Yes, Abimelech is considered a judge. He's in the song anyway.Rob-Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01871900185090584524noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-376223885962725313.post-89283380420531240762010-04-25T13:10:10.502-05:002010-04-25T13:10:10.502-05:00I am less great leader and more great at collectin...I am less great leader and more great at collecting followers.Shanenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-376223885962725313.post-35735781899891151662010-04-24T23:22:57.083-05:002010-04-24T23:22:57.083-05:00Awesome video.

The stories are cool and gruesome, but not exactly light or theologically inspiring (unless proper theological framing is worked out).

A few words about this week's reading:
1. Thanks for the shout out. You know my ego needs stroking on a fairly regular basis so that my self-confidence is able to edge out my insecurity.
2. When reading Judges it's helpful to understand that it is a pro-monarchy book. The author is trying to set you (imaginary reader) up to think, "I know that God said no kings, but these people really need a good leader."
3. I don't think that you're reading way too much into the Joshua passage, and I think that you have an interesting take on it. I'm going to run it a by a couple of Old Testament guys at work and see what they say about it.
4. I've not seen the Gideon veggie tale, but I like it when they do Bible stories instead of stuff like Larry Boy. We'll check it out. You'll want to click this onehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JShBX_-TyMU&feature=relatednoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-376223885962725313.post-32835640232119444342010-04-23T18:40:37.195-05:002010-04-23T18:40:37.195-05:00I like the idea of a reluctant leader. I recently read or heard either here, at church, or by Douglas Adams about the President of the Universe that the amount that someone wants a job is reciprocal to the amount he is qualified for it. So not wanting to be a leader, is the first qualification for being good one. Which, of course, means that I would be a great leader.Shanenoreply@blogger.com
